Interesting Materials Legal Cases

N. Anderson, Ph.D., P.E., RNA Consulting, Inc.
A Materials Engineer can become a testifying expert in unusual materials
failure cases. Dr. Anderson will describe a number of assignments and how he
addressed the scientific aspects of the cases.
1. The airplane that puts the pilot to sleep.

BIOGRAPHY:
Robert N. (Bob) Anderson, Ph.D., P.E., is President of RNA
Consulting, Inc., and focuses on forensic materials and metallurgical
engineering. He has been involved in expert witness work for more than 30
years, analyzing and testifying in a variety of legal cases that involve some
aspect of materials failure. Dr. Anderson is an Emeritus Professor of
Materials Engineering, San Jose State University, and previously was on the
faculty at Stanford University.
Dr. Anderson, who also holds an M.S. in Chemical Engineering from UC
Berkeley, was for ten years a civilian research scientist for the US Navy at
the Navy Radiological Defense Laboratory, San Francisco, and received a Navy
fellowship to pursue his Ph.D. from Stanford University, School of Earth
Science, where he graduated with a specialty in Materials Thermodynamics.
In his community of Los Altos Hills, he is immediate past president and on
the board of the Purissima Hills Water District
(PHWD), chair of the town's Water Conservation Committee, and serves on the
board of the Bay Area Water Supply and Conservation Agency (BAWSCA). He also
is involved in disaster preparedness work, and is a member of the town's
Emergency Communications (amateur radio) Committee, and CERT team. Contact
